On October 15, 2023 Ron made his “final flight” home to be with his Lord & Savior Jesus Christ. He passed away in Colorado Springs, his wife of 58 years by his side. Ron was born 12/21/34 in Cuba, TN. to Richard & Dorothy Rollison. His father died when Ron was 2. His mother remarried when he was 8 to Hammond Pollard who adopted Ron. Ron grew up in Memphis and spent many summers at Kia Kima Boy Scout camp in the Arkansas Ozarks working his way up to waterfront director. He attended high school same time as Elvis and knew him casually, even dated the same girl.
He attended Memphis State for 2 years enrolled in AFROTC, joined the Navy as Naval Cadet in Pensacola earning his wings in 1956. For the next 8 years he flew numerous aircraft making many carrier cruises. He attended the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey to complete his degree and met a young schoolteacher named Lois and married her on 12/19/65.
Upon graduation, orders took him to Florida to fly the RASC Vigilante, a fast, reconnaissance aircraft used extensively in the VietNam war, where he flew 58 combat missions. While on a 10 month carrier cruise in 1967, daughter Kim was born. In 1970 the airwing moved to Albany GA where son Scott was born.

In 1974 Ron completed his flying career in Key West as the Commanding Officer of RVAH-14 Squadron. He finished his career in 1976 as exchange officer with the Air Force at Colorado Springs.

They moved to Steamboat and Ron commuted to Denver University earning a Masters Degree.
