Michael James Boviall,
72, died Thursday, January
6, 2022.
Born April 23, 1949,
in Fort Atkinson, WI,
he was the only child of
the late Arielle Minette
(Clarenson) and Wesley James Boviall.
Michael grew up in Wisconsin, Kansas, and Arkansas.
His first job was at the age of eight, as a newspaper boy,
delivering papers at 3:00 a.m., including a stop at the
cemetery in Coffeyville, where the outlaws from the
Dalton Gang are buried. He graduated from Bentonville
High School, and was awarded a full scholarship to
Arkansas State Teachers College, but instead decided
to serve his country and enlisted in the United States
Navy.
Stationed at Pearl Harbor, he served as GMG3
on the USS Benjamin Stoddert during the Vietnam
War. Returning stateside, he worked in Research
& Development Department for Daisy Air Rifles,
as a machinist with Wendt-Sonis, TRW, and Sibley
Engineering, and retired from the United States Postal
Service as a Postal Clerk serving 41 years.
Michael was a man of many interests, especially
spending time in nature with loved ones. He was a
completely devoted husband and loving, involved
father, papa, and great-papa. While living in Gravette,
Arkansas, Michael served as Cubmaster of Cub Scout
Pack 117, Razorback District. After moving to Grand
Junction, CO, in 1986, he became an avid mountain
biker, cross-country skiier, fisherman, hunter, member
of Orchard Mesa Gun Club and was a talented
marksman. He enjoyed passing on his skills as a bush
craftsman and ingenious ways to “MacGyver” almost
anything.
Generous in his everyday life, Michael was always
willing to lend a hand to those in need and enjoyed
cooking delicious meals for his family. In addition to
his love and devotion to family and friends, he made
sure his miniature pterodactyls had fresh food and
water everyday - especially hot water in their bird bath
in the winter.
Michael is survived by his wife of 51 years, Mary
Ann; son, Michael W. W. Boviall; daughter, Tracie
(Brian) Palmateer; grandsons, Alex Boviall and Shawn
Boviall; granddaughters, Krista Gracie, and Marissa
Gracie, and great-grandchildren, Faith June Boviall and
Justin James Boviall.
Military Honors services will be April 22, 2022, at
1:00 p.m., at Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery, followed by
a gathering of family and friends at Canyon View Park,
at 3:00 p.m.
Services have been entrusted to Brown’s Cremation
and Funeral Services.
