Donny Ray Friar, 85,
of Grand Junction, CO,
passed away peacefully
Friday, September 24,
2021 with his wife by his
side.
Don was born September
11, 1936, to Lanzo Lee and
Gladys Friar, in Oklahoma
City, OK. He met his high school sweetheart and
graduated from Southeast High, Class of 1955. Don
voluntarily served in the United States Air Force from
1955 - 1961.
He and Carlene married November 18, 1955. They
had three sons, bought their Colorado farmhouse in
1975, and he worked for Southwestern Bell Co. for 30
years.
Don loved his family, farm, the outdoors, hunting,
fishing and the racetrack. He was a lifetime “Golden
Eagles” member of the NRA, member of the Orchard
Mesa Gun Club for 20 years, and a proud supporter
of the 2nd Amendment! If he wasn’t outside, he was
watching his favorite sports teams and old westerns.
Don was preceded in death by his parents and son,
Troy Don Friar. He is survived by wife, Carlene Uhls
Friar; sons, Carl Ray Friar and Glenn Lee Friar;
brothers, Odell Friar and Charles Friar. Don has four
grandchildren, Troy Friar, Brandi (Friar) Reigles,
Heather Friar, and Donny Friar, and three great-grandsons, Junior, Jaxon, and Mason.
