Ernie passed away
on August 24, 2021, at
HopeWest Care Center.
He was born August 7,
1925, in Skiatook, OK.
When he was only one year old, his family relocated
to Colorado where he spent most of his life. In 1943,
Ernie joined the Army and fought in WWII in Europe.
He was a tank driver in The Battle of the Bulge, lead
by General Patton. Ernie earned a Purple Heart for his
service.
On August 31, 1946, Ernie married Audrey Dangler,
his life-long love and partner. on August 31, they would
have celebrated their 75th anniversary.
Ernie tried many occupations, but in 1960, he found
his work home at the VA Hospital. He retired in 1982,
as Warehouse Supervisor. He enjoyed the Colorado
outdoors where he loved to camp, fish, and hunt.
Ernie is survived by wife, Audrey; daughters, Marilyn
(Bob) Struck, Bev (Karl) Stephens, and Sandy (Nohel)
Payan; ten grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren, and
three great-great-grandsons. He was preceded in death
by son, Ernest “Sonny” Satterfield, and parents, Dedrick
and Stella Satterfield.
Services for Ernie will be today, September 1, 1:00
p.m., at Callahan-Edfast Mortuary. Military honors to
follow at 2:30 p.m. at Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to
HopeWest.
