Hudson, Wisconsin.
Born to Leta and Oscar
Woodward April 27, 1938, in
Fruita, Colorado, she married
Larry Sutherland in 1956,
and had four children, Mark
(deceased), David, Terri (Rick)
Benson, and Crystal (Eric)
Karnowski. They divorced in
1975.
She married Robert “Bob” Bjerstedt in 1977, and moved to
Wisconsin where she began a long and happy life as a dairywoman,
chef, bookkeeper, and family matriarch to the extensive Bjerstedt
clan.
She is preceded in death by parents, Leta and Oscar; husband,
Bob; prior husband, Larry; son, Mark, and brother, Arthur. She
is survived by three children; seven grandchildren; four greatgrandchildren, and sisters, Kay, Marilyn, and Carol.
Betty was a natural organizer and felt happiest when she had a
bunch of people to feed and manage. Betty and Bob were a true
partnership throughout their 43-year marriage.
Services will be held in Wisconsin (date TBD). To honor her,
please toast her with a glass of milk (or other beverage of choice)
and imagine her feeding a rambunctious herd of Holstein calves.
