FORMER VAIL RESIDENT WILL TROUT DIES

Former Vail resident and local planning board member Will Trout, who lived in Vermilion, Ohio, died at a hospice Saturday following a short illness. He was 69.
Trout was born on June 29, 1935, in Cleveland. He served in the U.S. Army's Medical Corps and was also a graduate of the School of Architecture at Kent State University, where he was a member of Delta Tau Delta fraternity.
While in Vail, where he moved in 1980, Trout was a member of the Eagle County Planning Commission and Vail's Design Review Board. He was also one of the founders of the Eagle Valley Homebuilders Association and was active with many civic groups and events.
He had lived in Vermilion since 1997, where he was a self employed architect and the owner of Trout & Creek Architects. He was presented with the key to the city of Cleveland for bringing it architectural renown.
He enjoyed skiing and sailing and was a member of the Vermilion Boat Club and a former member of the Cleveland Yacht Club.
He is survived by sons William H. Trout Jr. and Timothy P. Trout, both of Vail; his former wife, Beverly Trout of Vail; and a sister, Linda Dupler of Kingwood, Texas.
He was preceded in death by a son, Peter Dunsmuir Trout, and his parents, William Henry and Margaret Marie Trout.
The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. Saturday at the Vermilion Boat Club, where a memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. The Reverend Bill Tumbleson will preside.
