Ruth Fritz, a resident of Eagle and Traverse City, Mich., died Friday at a veterans home in Rifle. She was 82. Fritz was born and raised in Maine. She sang professionally as a young woman and joined the U.S. Navy in 1946 as a “Wave,” where she organized entertainment for the troops.
She married Arthur G. Fritz Jr. in 1946. She is survived by her daughter, Beverly Kennedy, and her son, Arthur G. Fritz III. She has nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. “She was devoted to her God and family,” Kennedy said. “Her capacity for love and compassion was without limits and this becomes the legacy that her family and friends must strive to imitate in her honor.”
A memorial mass will be held at 5:30 p.m., today at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Eagle.
