DAN B. RULE 1924-2000.
Daniel Buckley Rule passed away October 20.
Mr. RULE was born in Eagle to Fred and Mary RULE. He grew up in Eagle and graduated from Eagle High School in 1942. He attended Colorado State University for one year.
Mr. RULE married Coleen CHILDERS on June 22, 1944 and the couple made their home in Eagle.
Mr. RULE joined the U.S. Army in 1944 and served in the European theater of combat during World War Two.
Following the war Mr. RULE returned to Eagle and went to work at the First National Bank of Eagle. He also operated the family ranch five miles south of Eagle with his father and brother.
Mr. RULE was in the banking business for 30 years and served as president of the First National Bank until he went into the ranching business full-time. He ranched in Eagle until 1980 when he and his family bought the Wagon Hammer Ranch north of Gillette, Wyoming. The family moved there and Mr. RULE operated the ranch until his death.
Mr. RULE was very active in the community. He was a member of Castle Lodge 122 AF and AM of Eagle, past master of the Castle Lodge. He was active in 4-H and was a 4-H leader for many years. He served on the Soil Conservation Board as chairman; he served on the board of directors of Colorado Mountain College. He was a member of the Eagle United Methodist Church. He served on the Wyoming Federal Land Bank Board, was range conservationist of the year for the State of Wyoming. He belonged to the Wyoming, Colorado, and National Cattlemen's Association.
Mr. Rule was a jewelry maker and was a private pilot.
He is survived by his wife, Coleen RULE of Buffalo, Wyoming; a brother, Larry RULE of Brighton; son Tom Rule (Barbara) of Buffalo, Wyoming; daughter Dana REIMLER (Harold) of Mills, Wyoming; four grandchildren, Danny and Tim REIMLER, Tiffany RIVES, and Travis RULE; and five great-grandchildren.
