George “Geo” Thomas Forster, a longtime resident of Grand Junction, passed away July 6 at St. Mary’s Hospital at the age of 55.
George was born on Jan. 13, 1959, in Lebanon, Pennsylvania, to Paul and Mary Jean (Progansky) Forster. He was the oldest of three boys and was active in his church, serving as an altar boy. After graduating from Wyomissing High School, George left home to join the United States Navy, where he became an aviation fire control technician, petty officer third class.
George had the opportunity to travel to various parts of the country before eventually settling in Grand Junction. His first business venture was a car agency called Moto Buggies and most recently he owned Top of the Hill Sales. He also co-hosted a local radio program called the Brad and Geo Show on 96.1 KSTR.
George was known for his great love of family and friends as well as his strong faith in God. He had a warmhearted and gentle spirit and cared for others, making powerful connections with those he knew.
George was competitive and enjoyed playing pool and darts, most often to his avail. He also loved all types of music and was a self-taught harmonica player. George had a unique sense of humor and would “never let a few facts get in the way of a good story.”
Surviving family members include his life partner and soulmate, Brenda Castleberry, of Grand Junction; parents Paul and Mary Jean Forster, of Lebanon, Pennsylvania; brothers Bobby Forster, of Lebanon, Pennsylvania, and John (Tammy) Forster, of Boca Raton, Florida; daughters Melanie (Devin) Wood, of Denver, and Tanaya (Matt) Martinez, of Lake Stevens, Washingtion; step-son Travis Collins, of Grand Junction; two granddaughters, Nevaeh Anne Collins, 4, and Emmy Olivia Martinez, 2 weeks; and several nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be held at Martin Mortuary in Grand Junction on Saturday at 10 a.m. Services will conclude at George’s home and final resting place immediately following.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Mary’s Chapel at St. Mary’s Hospital in Grand Junction.
