Billy "Bill" Lamont Doolin
March 12, 1934 - April 28, 2007

Longtime Hayden resident Bill Doolin died April 28, 2007, in Grand Junction at the Veteran's Hospital after a brief illness. He was 73.
Bill was born to Lamont and Lucille Kendall-Doolin on March 12, 1934, in Baggs, Wyo. He moved to Rawlins, Wyo., with his family and then moved to Routt County, where he attended Dunston School and lived at the Motherwell Ranch with his aunt and uncle Bill and May Kendall. He then moved to Hayden with his family, where he met and married Betty Jo Simpson on March 16, 1955.
Bill enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping and drives with his dog, Peppy, but most of all, he enjoyed being with his family.
Bill was loved by all and will be missed dearly.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Monty and Lucy Doolin; and his brother, Donald Doolin.
He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Betty Doolin; his sister, Shirley, and her husband, Bill Murphy; brothers, Norman, and his wife, Karen Doolin, and Dean and his wife, Iris Doolin; his sons, Billy L. Doolin, David B. Doolin, and Douglas D., and his wife, Ann Doolin; his daughters, Alice L. Doolin and Beverly J., and her husband, Skip Kostur; 13 grandchildren, Lucus Scott, Sarah Scott, Justine Bador, Justin Doolin, Wesley Doolin, Michael Doolin, Brittany Doolin, Jake Doolin, Lacey Doolin, Ashlee Doolin, Kurtis Kostur, Kyle Kostur and Kory Kostur; and two great-grandchildren, Sierra Scott and Chace Marshall.
Graveside services were held May 5, 2007, at the Hayden Cemetery with Janet Babish officiating. Special music "Grandpa" (Tell me 'bout the good old days) was played. Pallbearers were Kurtis Kostur, Kyle Kostur, Kory Kostur, Justin Doolin, Wesley Doolin, Mike Doolin, Jake Doolin and Lucus Scott. Honorary pallbearers were Chencho Salazar, Gordon Dowling and Robert Kendall. Military honors were performed by the Hayden American Legion.
Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society in care of Grant Mortuary, 621 Yampa Ave., Craig, CO 81625.
