Douglas Roberts Jones passed away Feb. 3, 2008. He was 81.
Doug was born April 23, 1926, in Cedar City, Utah, to the late Orion and Mildia Jones. Doug served in the Navy from 1946 to 1948. After an honorable discharge, he returned to Utah, where he took over the family sheep ranch.
He married Betty Rae Plattner on March 18, 1949, in Vernal, Utah. They wintered their sheep in Utah and spent the summers in Oak Creek. In 1972, they sold their Utah home and moved to Oak Creek permanently. In 1985, he sold his sheep and retired.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Orion and Mildia Jones; his sister Audrey Udall; and his son Ralph Jones.
He is survived by his loving wife Betty Rae; son Gordon and wife Grace Jones of Oak Creek; and daughters Marlyn and her husband Tom Barclay of Brighton, and Kathleen Jones of Lafayette; five grandchildren, Preston Babcock, son of Gordon and Grace Jones, Casey and Travis Jones, sons of Ralph Jones, and Gregg and Devan Barclay, sons of Marlyn and Tom Barclay; and five great-grandchildren, Breanna and Kaci Marie Children of Casey and Tabatha Jones, Madison, Caleb and Aleia Children of Preston, and Jamie Babcock.
