Alex Norman YOUNGER, 80, died Aug. 6 at Valley View Hospital in Glenwood Springs.
YOUNGER, a 33-year resident of Burns, was born the son of Patrick and Mathie YOUNGER May 27, 1903 in Mt. Malheur, Ore. He was raised and graduated from high school in Oregon before entering the U.S. Navy in 1920 for a six-year hitch.
After 20 years on the Long Beach, Calif. Police Department, YOUNGER retired and moved to Ft. Collins.
A few years later, in 1950, he moved to Burns and took up auto supply sales. He retired from auto supply sales in 1967.
YOUNGER was a member of the Police Environments Retirement Association and the National Rifle Association.
YOUNGER is survived by his wife, Herthe; daughters, Lolita WATTERS of Ohio and Sandra BON of Virginia; step-daughters LaVera WARE of Washington and Evelyn MARACQ of California; and sister, Ida BUCKINGHAM of Washington.
