Maxine G. Pilcher, 90, was born
in Sterling, Idaho, on April 22,
1920 and passed away peacefully
in Fort Collins, CO on December
4, 2010, with her four children at
her side. She grew up on a farm
near Springfield, Idaho, graduated
high school at age 16, and
earned a degree in elementary
education from Idaho State College.
She attended Sacred Heart
School of Nursing in Spokane, WA. After nursing school she
worked in the local hospital and for farm labor camps in Washington
and Idaho.
In 1942, she married Hershl B. Pilcher, an old high school friend.
In 1947, they moved to Rangely, CO. and lived for 30 years before
retiring to Grand Junction, CO. The Rangely years were some of
Maxine's most memorable, working with and caring for the people
that touched her life. She worked countless hours at the Rangely
Hospital, was involved with the school board, the Episcopal Church,
very supportive of the oil and gas industry, and various local organizations.
Maxine is survived by four children, Mike (Margaret) - Vernal,
Utah; Bill (Jeris) - Fort Collins, CO; Carol (Jerry) - Spokane, WA,
and Paul (Sherry) - Evergreen, CO; 11 grandchildren, and 12 great
grandchildren.
Maxine was preceded in death by her husband, Hershl; grandson,
John, and nine siblings.
Services will be held at St. Timothy's Episcopal Church in
Rangely, CO on Saturday, December 11, 2010, at 1:00 p.m. Graveside
service will be held immediately after at the Rangely Cemetery.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Rangely District Hospital
and/or St. Timothy's Episcopal Church.
