Obituaries

Grand Junction Daily Sentinel page 3C - November 7, 2010

David Lee Conklin, 59, born
October 8, 1951, in Binghamton,
NY, departed this life October 17,
2010, after a year-long battle with
throat cancer, in the certain Hope
of Life Eternal through his Master
and Messiah Yahshua.
He was a long-time resident of
Colorado, having lived in Vail,
LaVita, Paonia, Cedaredge, Montrose,
Fruita, on the Little Cimarron, and, finally, in Delta.
David was the firstborn son of Edwin Conklin, who preceded him
in life-after-death on January 3, 2010, and Milli(cent) Rose Tripp
Conklin, who survives, as well as siblings, Debbie, Sheila, Marcia
(Dennis), Brenda (John), and Kevin; children, Seth Ephraim and
Chelsea Rose; wife, Theanna Lee Sparrow Conklin; stepchildren,
Mariah, David John (Cassie), Theleah (Chuck), Hannah (Chad),
Gabriel (Amber), and Rinnah. He was "Grandpa David" to Fianna,
Timothy, Jewel, Leila, and Isaac.
A carpenter and timber-frame builder by trade, he left many fine
examples of his work around the country. He also was an expert
computer draftsman/graphics designer, photographer, and a Certified
Master Gardener.
He was active in Beit Lechem congregation of Fruita for many
years, lead the music team, prayed with the Minyan, etc., before
marrying Theanna on October 12, 2008 on Confluence Island in
Delta and becoming an inspiring part of Covenant Fellowship in
Montrose, singing and playing guitar with the music team, blowing
the shofar (ram's horn), and canting prayers powerfully. He enjoyed
the outdoors, taught handicapped skiing, biked, hiked, and soaked in
hot springs. His appetite for life was reflected by his appetite for
fresh-and-raw gourmet vegetarian food, which he loved to prepare
and share.
His zeal for Torah, zest for living, caring and generous heart will
be sorely missed by those whose lives he touched. On October 24, at
Covenant Fellowship in Montrose, a well-attended community Celebration
of Life service was enjoyed: a video tribute, many memories,
prayers, and eulogies shared. Interment was made at Blue Mesa
Cemetery, October 26th, above the Reservoir he so loved to sail.
May David's memory be for a blessing to all who love him still and
look forward, at the last shofar blast, to seeing him again on that
great Day.
