Paul A. Amichaux, long-time Glenwood Springs resident and business owner, died Oct. 15, 2004, at the Glen Valley Nursing Home in Glenwood Springs, at the age of 73. Amichaux was born the son of Archie and Bertha (Hoffman) Amichaux on Nov. 5, 1930, in Glenwood Springs, CO. Paul died on his 49th wedding anniversary. He wed Jacqueline Chapman on Oct. 15, 1955, in Warrington, England.
Amichaux graduated in 1948 from Garfield County High School.He was retired from the United States Air Force, after 22 years of service. Amichaux was stationed in various countries, such as Turkey, Germany, and Hawaii. Amichaux and his family traveled and lived in a vast area of Western Europe. Honorably discharged, he was recognized as a Senior Master Sergean E-9. He attended University of Denver for two years on a football scholarship, and played in the Hula Bowl. He attained his college degree from the University of Maryland, through the military program.
Amichaux and his family own and operate "Ami's Acres," in West Glenwood. Amichaux enjoyed the wonderful scenery, and the backcountry Colorado has to offer. He also enjoyed traveling, jeeping, his horses, telling stories, genealogy studies, joke-telling, was a rock-hound and had a wonderful sense of humor.
He loved his family, his friends and the wonderful community in which he lived for so many years.
Amichaux is survived by his wife, Jacqueline, of Glenwood Springs; his four children, Calvin P. Amichaux of Glenwood Springs, Cheryl Dunlap of Silt, Roxanne Christner of Glenwood Springs, and Craig Amichaux of Glenwood Springs; two sisters, Joyce L. Reiche of Eagle, and Janice George of Glenwood Springs; six grandchildren, Jason and Brian Dunlap, Angela and Jeremy Christner, Shelbi and Haley Amichaux.
A graveside service was held on Wednesday at the Rosebud Cemetery in Glenwood Springs. Memorials may be made to the charity of choice in Paul's memory.

Glenwood Springs resident and business owner Paul Amichaux died Oct. 15 at the Glen Valley Nursing Home.
He was 73.
Amichaux was born the son of Archie and Bertha (Hoffman), Nov. 5, 1930, in Glenwood Springs. He died on his 49th wedding anniversary. He married Jacqueline Chapman on Oct. 15, 1955 in Warrington, England. He was retired from the U.S. Air Force after 22 years of service.
He is survived by his wife Jacqueline of Glenwood Springs, his four children: Calvin P. Amichaux of Glenwood, Cheryl Dunlap of Silt, Roxanne Christner of Glenwood and Craig Amichaux of Glenwood; two sisters: Joyce L. Reiche of Eagle and Janice George of Glenwood Springs; and six grandchildren.
Visitation is 3-6 p.m. Tuesday at the First United Methodist Church in Glenwood. A graveside service is 1 p.m. Wednesday, at the Rosebud Cemetery in Glenwood Springs. A reception will follow at his son Craig's home, 163 C.R. 132 in West Glenwood.
In the Air Force, Amichaux was stationed in places such as Turkey, Germany and Hawaii. He was a Master Sergeant E-9 when he received his Honorable Discharge.
