A 70-year-old California man was killed Saturday afternoon in Glenwood Canyon after losing control of his motorcycle, according to Colorado State Patrol reports.
Howard Adamson was traveling eastbound on I-70 four miles east of Glenwood Springs at 2:20 p.m. when he ran off the right side of the road striking a cement guard rail. The 1984 Honda motorcycle continued for another 44 feet when it struck the guard rail again and then traveled an additional 108 feet east.
At that point Adamson was ejected and was thrown 26 feet to the south shoulder.
The motorcycle continued to travel east and struck the north barrier and finally came to rest after continuing an additional 22 feet.
Adamson was transported to Valley View Hospttal where he was pronounced dead of massive chest injuries at 3:55 p.m.
