Mabel A. Horn August 10, 1908--November 25, 2004
Mabel A. Horn died at the E. Dene Moore Nursing Home in Rifle on Nov. 25, 2004. She was 96.
She was born on Aug. 10, 1908, to Andrew and Clara (Davenport) Anderson in Boulder. Both her parents had come from Sweden, where Mr. Anderson was a mining engineer.
In 1931, Mabel married Harold Horn in Boulder, who was a radio technician. The couple later moved to Wolcott, where they worked on one of Harold's ranches. They later went to Denver, where Mr. Horn had a small radio shop. In 1950, the Horns moved to California where Harold stayed home as the result of an illness and Mabel worked as a secretary at a private school until her retirement at age 65.
Mr. Horn passed away in 1994 and Mabel moved back to Rifle where she lived at Mesa Vista in Parachute and the E. Dene Moore Nursing Home in Rifle.
She is survived by a daughter, Gail Austin, of Edmund, Okla., and two grandchildren.
Mrs. Horn was a devout Baptist and attended church each Sunday at the E. Dene Moore Nursing Home.
No services are scheduled and the Rifle Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
