"...they had four children, Joy, Roy , and lost the other two. Son, Louie, died as an infant (buried at Ouray) and daughter, Esther died at birth (buried at Red Cliff). Ralph started working for the D&RG Railroad in 1919 on the section gang in Ouray/Ridgeway (7 years) before relocatiing to be the section foreman in Red Cliff from 1926 until 1944 when he was transferred...

15) Ice Train Wreck

The steam-powered "Big Hook" from Grand Junction lifts the derailed engine of the Ice Train into an upright position. Railroad employees and volunteers from the mine watch. The Ice Train derailed on December 31, 1927.
