Loading up for transportation to lower levels in the mine. The 16-10 incline goes down to the 18 level (at one time it went all the way to the 24 level). Transporting people was called a mantrip.

14) Rebuilt mine car

O.A. McClain and Roy Long standing beside a completely rebuilt mine car at the Gilman Mine. An "eye" is seen with chains attached at the bottom of the cart. The eye was used to hook the mine cars together in a series of small trains for hauling ore.

16) Mucking machine

Air operated mucking machine. The scoop goes over the mucking machine and empties the ore into the car behind. Miners also used these cars to move mining timbers throughout the mine. The machines and cars ran on rail tracks.
