He was the custodian of First United Methodist Church in Grand Junction, Colorado, and he was on the board that laid out the Grand Mesa Institute grounds for the Grand Mesa Christian Association. He was also a salesman in the shoe business. With his wife, Edith Jaynes, he purchased an orchard in Fruitridge, and later at 2878 Orchard Avenue in Fruitvale.
