He was an early Grand Junction, Colorado photographer with an office located at 202 South 4th Street. He was born in Pennsylvania to Hiram F. Wheeler, a distiller, and Betsey Wheeler, a homemaker. The 1870 US Census shows him living with his parents in Meshoppen, Pennsylvania, where he worked as a carpenter.
