By June of 1946 when this picture was taken, the bridge's "age was beginning to show and some weak places had developed and there was talk of condemnation, it being unsafe for heavy loads. "The Brooks Bridge, built by the railroad company during construction of the Dotsero Cutoff, replaced an earlier one near the same site. It is now in a sad state or repair and unsafe for other than light traffic.
