Studio portrait of Breta Louise Nylund Gustafson (1857-1893), wife of Charles and mother of Charles and WIlliam Gustafson and Sophia Gustafson Ryden. She is wearing a high collar and brooch. She was married to Charles Gustafson in Finland. Mr. Gustafson arrived in Leadville in 1880 and was a miner before moving to Gypsum. Breta and his children joined him in 1891. She died in 1893. Early Gypsum where tents provided original services: hotel, stores, saloon, restaurant. Meals at the Eagle Hotel were 35 cents, a bed was 25 cents. All of these services were located across from the train depot. The location is close to present day Railroad Ave. and Second Street.
